Hello! I'm glad you're here. My journey began on a farm in a rural town in Mississippi, where I learned to love nature at an early age. My parents were older when I was born, so life was slower paced with a strong emphasis on the 80's mindset - go outside and play! I left that rural town for a slightly larger one when I attended MS State University. There, I studied Social Work and became passionate about helping others. I also became active in the MSU Theatre, and ultimately graduated with a Bachelor's in Social Work and Bachelors in Communication with an emphasis in Theatre. Columbus became home to our family, with our family living downtown, walking to the library and Riverwalk, and finding that reconnection with nature. For a time, my life was full of homeschooling four amazing children, teaching theatre classes, and running a rental property. Life took an unexpected turn, as life does, and I went back to school to obtain my Master's Degree in Social Work in midlife. I taught Social Work Practice with Individuals and Groups (Practice 1 and 2) as an adjunct at MS State University. I worked as a Social Worker in the healthcare field for over ten years, noticing how the body and mind are connected and how often the medical community treats one or the other, but not both. When I obtained my clinical license to treat and diagnose mental health conditions, I also gained an understanding of the power of somatic therapy to improve depression, anxiety, and other chronic illnesses. Mind Body Therapy is a place to connect what we feel both physically and mentally, in a safe, supportive environment. Using ecotherapy, yoga, mindfulness practice, and some Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I'd love to help others feel like themselves again. I invite you to join me on this journey.
